SuperTuner

Professional chromatic tuner for iPhone and iPad.

SuperTuner is not a toy tuner or a simple frequency counter. It implements professional stroboscopic tuning principles, five distinct meter display modes, 100+ instrument presets, and adaptive layouts for every iOS screen, built from the ground up with the same signal processing standards used in high-end hardware tuners.

Five Meter Modes

Each meter is designed for a different use case, from the snap of an LED bar on a dark stage to the precision of a true stroboscopic display in a recording environment. All five modes work in full-screen landscape.

LED Meter

12-segment horizontal bar. Center LEDs glow green when locked in tune. Immediate read at a glance.

Needle Gauge

Analog-style semicircular sweep with cyan gradient arc and layered glow. Smooth 0.15s easeOut animation.

Stroboscopic

True stroboscopic display driven by real Goertzel harmonic analysis, not a simulation. Four rows, each representing a live harmonic of the detected note. Bands freeze when locked. Same physics as a $500 Peterson strobe tuner.

Spectrum Analyzer

Live FFT on a logarithmic frequency axis (30–2000 Hz). 4096-point resolution. Color transitions from blue to green as pitch locks in.

Large Note Display

Oversized note name with directional triangle indicators. Three triangles per side light progressively with deviation. Designed for visibility on stage and for musicians with low vision.

Built for Real Use

Professional Signal Processing

SuperTuner's pitch detection uses autocorrelation with per-lag normalization, a time-domain algorithm that directly measures waveform periodicity. Unlike standard autocorrelation, per-lag normalization eliminates the systematic sharp bias that affects most tuners, producing accurate readings across the full dynamic range of an instrument.

Harmonic coherence scoring distinguishes real instrument notes from environmental noise (HVAC rumble, traffic, room resonance), even at low frequencies where noise contamination is most problematic. The algorithm adapts to the signal, not the other way around.

The stroboscopic meter uses the Goertzel algorithm to compute harmonic energy at specific frequencies in real time, the same physical principle as an analog strobe disc, not a visual approximation of one.
